How to split an image into 4 parts

  1. Add your image by dropping, choosing or pasting it
  2. Keep 2×2 for four quarters, or pick 1×4 or 4×1 for strips
  3. Optional: drag the lines, or turn on Trim empty space
  4. Click Download ZIP to get yourimage_1 to yourimage_4

Four quarters or four strips

A 2×2 split cuts the image into four quarters: top-left, top-right, bottom-left and bottom-right. A 1×4 split makes four vertical strips, and 4×1 makes four horizontal strips.

The pieces are numbered left to right, top to bottom. You can switch to column order under Output if you prefer. Your file names are kept, so poster.png becomes poster_1.png to poster_4.png.

Splitting four views from an AI image?

If the image shows four objects with space between them, turn on Find gaps between objects and Trim empty space, or use the AI image splitter, which has those settings on by default.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about the split image into 4 tool.

Are the 4 parts exactly equal?

Yes, by default. If the width or height cannot be divided evenly, the pieces differ by at most one pixel.

In which order are the parts numbered?

Left to right, then top to bottom: 1 and 2 on top, 3 and 4 below. You can change this under Output.

Can I download only one quarter?

Yes. Every piece has its own Download button.

Is there a size limit?

There is no fixed limit. Very large images (over about 100 megapixels) may be slow on older phones.
